When we started, we were merely presented long distance, team, overnight running relays that take place in the most breathtaking places in the world (no big deal). We created a place where teams could come together to conquer a course over two days and one night, and push their limits, on little sleep, with friends and a community of runners by their side. For a more detailed explanation, check out our "What is Ragnar" page.
Since then, we have introduced new ways to bring teams together in the most Ragnarian ways possible. We are currently experimenting with a number of new formats including:
- The Sunset Experiment: Can you outrun the sun? New for 2019, squeeze all the fun of a Ragnar into a single day with Ragnar Sunset - 4 friends, 26-ish miles and one afternoon. Our goal: to squeeze everything you love about a Ragnar event—the challenge, the camaraderie, the costumes—into a single, sun-sational evening.
- Black Loop: Why stop at just 3 loops at your Ragnar Trail Relay? Try a 2-person experience in trail-specific ultra- running at a Ragnar Trail. Teams who compete will run together the entire course – Green, Yellow and Red Loops then conquer The Black Loop: an 18 additional miles of single-track.
- Glamping at Ragnar Trail: You could spend a few hours (or days) digging the tent out of your garage, deodorizing your cooler, trying to remember where you left your favorite camping chair, and training your new monkey butler—or you could just show up and find all the gear you need waiting for you, including an actual human concierge. Introducing exclusive Ragnar Glampsites at select courses.
At the end of your very long, but very fun day, your Ragnar experience is as competitive as you make it. Rally your team and battle the other teams in your division for the top ranking, or simply make it your goal to cross the finish line together! Ragnar is about coming together and accomplishing something we could never do alone. From the elite runner to the generally active individual, Ragnar is the perfect race for anyone.
Now! Go forth and conquer 200-ish miles of road running with 12 friends and 2 vans during a Ragnar Relay, or camp with 8 friends and conquer a set of gritty trail running loops at a Ragnar Trail.
